Madden: $1.4 million gained for transportation improvements

HARRISBURG, March 7 – State Rep. Maureen Madden said new grant funding of $1.4 million has been awarded to improve roadways in Mount Pocono Borough and Pocono Township.

Mount Pocono Borough was awarded $600,000 for improvements to State Route 611 and Pine Hill Road.

The Pocono Mountains Industrial Park Authority received two grants totaling $800,000 to improve the intersection at State Route 611 and Bartonsville Avenue and to make safety improvements to exits 298-299 in Pocono Township.

“It is important to keep residents safe during their daily travels and these projects will be beneficial to everyone who uses these roadways,” said Madden, D-Monroe. “I would like to thank the Commonwealth Financing Authority for approving these grants through the Multimodal Transportation Fund.”

The grants may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
