Madden lauds funding for Pocono Township road project

HARRISBURG, March 26 – A $216,235 state grant today was awarded for a transportation project in Pocono Township, according to state Rep. Maureen Madden.

Madden said the funds will be used by the township to construct a roundabout and pedestrian safety improvements at the Learn Road and Fish Hill Road intersection.

“I would like to thank the Commonwealth Financing Authority and my leadership team for supporting this project, which will lead to an important safety improvement in Pocono Township,” said Madden, D-Monroe.

Madden said the grant was provided through the CFA’s Multimodal Transportation Fund whose purpose is to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to residents across Pennsylvania. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.

The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to administer the state’s economic stimulus packages.
