Madden appointed chair of PA House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee

HARRISBURG, March 21 – State Rep. Maureen Madden said she is excited for the opportunity to chair the PA House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee after being named to the post Wednesday by Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton.

“Pennsylvania is home to one of the largest older populations in the country and we have a variety of successful programs to assist those residents. Being chair of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee will put me at the forefront of any discussions that involve maintaining and improving those state services. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House and Senate as well as officials in the Shapiro administration on older adult issues moving forward,” said Madden, D-Monroe.

Madden was a prime co-sponsor of legislation that became law this year to expand the popular Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. The new guidelines raise the income limit to $45,000 for homeowners and renters and increase the maximum rebate to $1,000. It is estimated that nearly 175,000 additional people will become eligible for a rebate this year.

Madden maintains a district office at 354 Memorial Blvd., Room 4, in Tobyhanna. The phone number is 570-894-7905. She also holds monthly satellite office hours at the Middle Smithfield Township Municipal Building, 147 Municipal Drive, East Stroudsburg, 18302. This month’s outreach will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 26 and 27.

She is in her fourth two-year term serving the residents of Monroe County living in Barrett, Coolbaugh, Middle Smithfield, Paradise, Pocono, Price and Stroud townships, as well as Mount Pocono.
