Lee: Grants to help local historical organizations
State representative announces funding, part of commitment to local community
BRADDOCK, March 5 – Today state Rep. Summer Lee, D-Allegheny, announced that two local historical organizations have been selected to receive more than $40,000 in state operating assistance grants.
“I was thrilled to announce these grants in our community,” Lee said. “These historical organizations do more than preserve our past – they educate and inform us to help shape our future. Life does not happen in a vacuum, and acknowledging and learning about the historical context of our community’s diverse experiences and development is important as we work to build a better tomorrow.”
Awarded through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, the grants -- $9,913 for the Holocaust Center of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and $30,875 for the Rivers of Steel Heritage Corp. -- are to help provide general operating support. Grants are awarded to museums and historical societies across Pennsylvania.
