Rep. Anita Astorino Kulik March 21, 2017 | 1:08 PM
CARNEGIE, March 21 – State Rep. Anita Kulik, D-Allegheny, is sponsoring a free document-shredding event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22, at the Carnegie Borough Building for residents of Carnegie and Rosslyn Farms to safely dispose confidential documents.
“It’s a great opportunity for residents of both boroughs to protect themselves from identity theft,” Kulik said. “Carnegie Borough and Allegheny County officials and a local firm are teaming up with me to sponsor the event and provide information about avoiding fraud schemes and scams that are so prevalent nowadays.”
Kulik said families can bring one small box of documents for disposal by a bonded and reputable company.
Among the items that can be disposed of include:
Personal financial documents that are no longer needed;
Documents containing Social Security, credit card and bank account numbers;
Credit card applications;
Canceled or unused checks;
Insurance and income tax records;
Bank and credit card statements; and
Pension information.
More information is available by calling Kulik’s office at 412-264-4260.
