Kulik: State grant of nearly $245,000 awarded in 45th Legislative District

HARRISBURG, Oct. 12 – Robinson Township was awarded a $244,726 Recycling Development and Implementation Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, said state Rep. Anita Kulik, D-Allegheny.

The grant can be used for a number of things. Funding eligibility is allocated for expanding recycling processing facilities, installing data collection systems on recycling vehicles, continuing or creating curbside recycling programs, developing educational materials or operating leaf compost facilities.

“I’m happy to announce this funding that will play a big role in making the 45th Legislative District a cleaner, more environmentally friendly community within the commonwealth,” Kulik said. “Recycling is something we should all practice here in Pennsylvania, and I’m proud to say my district has and will continue to enhance our recycling initiatives thanks to this funding.”

Nearly 200 county and municipal governments were awarded grants for recycling collections, education and leaf litter pickup. Up to 90 percent of approved recycling program costs are eligible under the grant program.
