Kosierowski to hold ‘Hands Off Our Health Care’ town hall

HARRISBURG, March 6 – Residents are invited to a Monday town hall hosted by state Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski to discuss the grave possibilities Pennsylvanians may face with possible federal cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.

The free event -- “Hands Off Our Health Care: A Town Hall on Medicare & Medicaid Cuts” – will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 10 at Peoples Security Bank Theater at Lackawanna College, 501 Vine St., Scranton 18509.

“This will be an informational session explaining all of the things that are impacted by Medicare and Medicaid. There are many misconceptions about who actually relies on these programs, and a stigma that needs to be broken. Medicare and Medicaid support a wide range of people, including children, working families and individuals with disabilities, not just seniors or those in poverty. It’s critical that we do our due diligence in educating and informing people about the essential services these programs provide and what’s at stake if the proposed cuts in Washington, D.C. become reality,” said Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna.

In addition to Kosierowski, speakers will include the following health services experts:

  • Secretary Jason Kavulich, Pa. Department of Aging
  • Deputy Secretary Sally Kozak, Pa. Department of Human Services
  • Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak, The Wright Center
  • Maria Montoro Edwards, Maternal and Family Health Services
  • Joseph Hollander, Scranton Primary Health Care Center
  • James Cooney, Allied Services Integrated Health System
