Kosierowski lands $1.1 million for roadway safety

HARRISBURG, Feb. 24 – New competitive grant funding of $1.1 million was awarded today to Clarks Green Borough and Dickson City Borough, announced state Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski.

Dickson City Borough will use its two grants totaling $750,000 for roadway safety improvements to the Main Street and Viewmont Drive intersection as well as toward Phase V of the streetscape Boulevard Avenue and crosswalk installation project.

Clarks Green Borough received a $350,000 grant for roadway improvements along seven roadways.

“I am always happy when state-level funding is returned to our area because it’s a way to help reduce the expense on local municipal budgets,” said Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna. “The Commonwealth Financing Authority recognized the importance of these projects, and I was proud to advocate for their approval with my colleague Sen. Marty Flynn.”

Multimodal Transportation Fund grants may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
