Kosierowski lauds $315,000 grant for Dickson City road work

HARRISBURG, Jan. 30 – A $315,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will support the completion of a needed traffic signal project at the intersection of Main Street and Bowman Street in Dickson City, according to state Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski.

“This important project will provide crucial relief in traffic congestion and motorist and pedestrian safety. The designs and easements are complete and it is completely shovel ready. I am glad to see the full funding realized so the borough can move forward with the implementation of these improvements for the benefit of the region, businesses and residents,” said Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna.

The project includes installing traffic signaling with emergency preemption capabilities for emergency vehicles; widening of the route and adjustment of the curb for a safe turning lane, concrete pedestrian walks, pedestrian ramps meeting ADA standards, and cross walks to facilitate safety between transportation modes at the intersection.

Kosierowski said the grant was awarded under PennDOT’s Automated Red Light Enforcement Transportation Enhancements Grant Program.

This week’s funding will be added to a previously awarded $335,000 ARLE grant from 2019. Due to inflation and other factors, the total project cost increased, which necessitated the additional funding.

Funding for the ARLE program is generated from the net revenue of fines collected through Automated Red Light Enforcement Systems and Automated Speed Enforcement Systems.
