Kosierowski welcomes grant for Dickson City park improvements

HARRISBURG, Sept. 20 – Dickson City today was awarded a $122,476 Greenways, Trails and Recreation grant, announced state Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski.

The funds will be used to implement the Bernard Siminski Memorial Park Phase II Development Project.

“It was important to advocate for this grant because the park facilities are dated and unsafe for visitors to use. Completing the second phase of improvements will allow the park to be improved, walkable and contemporary with a variety of recreational choices,” Kosierowski said.

In 2021, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources funded Phase I of the Siminski Park project. Phase II will provide additional multimodal trail sections that meet ADA standards, updated playground elements, benches, and resilient fall zone surfacing to provide new recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities.

Kosierowski said the grant was approved today by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that administers Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. You can learn more about its programs here.
