Kosierowski: $2 million awarded for commercial development project in Moosic Borough

HARRISBURG, April 23 -- State Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski announced today that $2 million in funding has been awarded to a commercial development project in Lackawanna County as part of the county’s revitalization effort.

“This is more welcome news for Lackawanna County,” Kosierowski said. “The funding allocation, awarded to the Glenmontage Commercial Development, will assist in the county’s community-based revitalization effort in Moosic Borough.”

According to Kosierowski, the project involves property acquisition of an existing improved commercial property and new construction of a 30,000-square-foot, two-story office building. The site will include approximately 240 new parking spots, associated landscaping and underground stormwater retainage.

“Working with existing buildings and constructing new buildings, this project will offer the sort of space to attract new businesses and spur economic growth,” Kosierowski said. “It’s important that we make these type of investments. Doing so ensures Lackawanna County is positioned as a top contender for companies looking to establish their corporate headquarters.”

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, from which this funding was awarded, is a commonwealth grant program overseen by the Office of the Budget to assist with regional cultural, economic, civic and historical projects that improve a community’s economic growth by creating jobs
