Kinsey to host annual Unity in the Northwest Community summer event

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 26 – After more than a year of quarantine, state Rep. Stephen Kinsey, D-Phila., is slated to host his annual Unity in the Northwest Community summer event. Distinguished members of the Northwest Philadelphia community will be honored with the Honorable David P. Richardson Jr. Legacy Award for their outstanding service to the northwest community.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 in the 5900 block of Germantown Avenue, 19144, on the grounds of the historic Germantown High School.

“We’ve had a difficult year, but I am thrilled to host this year’s event and bringing people together. Hopefully, this event will help to lift spirits of neighbors as we gather in a positive unified environment while listening to good music being performed by great local musicians,” Kinsey said. “We also can’t ignore that our ability to come together has been made possible in part by our neighbors who have demonstrated immense dedication toward working to keep our community healthy during these trying times.”

Unity in the Northwest Community will feature local organizations providing health and public safety information to attendees, food vendors and live musical performances by Philadelphia’s own Breakwater Funk Band, The Jolly Brothers, Monte and Sherry Wilson-Butler.

Joining Kinsey at Unity in the Northwest Community will be federal, state and city elected officials who will be available to provide constituent services for any government-related concerns residents may have.
