ETNA, March 30—State Rep. Sara Innamorato, D-Allegheny, announced the Etna Community Organization has been awarded a $100,000 grant by the Department of Community and Economic Development.
The Etna Community Organization will use the money for construction costs associated with the ongoing roof project. This nonprofit group is dedicated to building a more vibrant and sustainable future for Etna through three main areas: social equity, community resiliency, and environmental stewardship.
“The Etna Community Organization is a great asset to our area, and I couldn’t be more supportive of their goal to help our community members thrive and live healthy, fulfilling lives,” said Innamorato. “I’m pleased to see this support from the state that will help them complete their ongoing roof project, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.”
ECO started as a grassroots initiative in 2016 to start and help complete the Etna EcoDistrict community planning process. Since its publication, ECO has been focused on fundraising and implementing different projects associated with the Etna EcoDistrict Plan.
Last week, Innamorato presented ECO with a check for the grant award. Photos from that presentation can be found here.
