Innamorato applauds state funding for park acquisition, water trail management plans

Grants awarded through Pa. DCNR

HARRISBURG, Dec. 30 — State Rep. Sara Innamorato, D-Allegheny, announced today that $393,000 in grant funding has been awarded to fund two outdoor projects in Allegheny County.

The funding was distributed through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, a grant initiative administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. This program funds projects across the commonwealth to acquire, develop and upgrade public parks, recreation areas, trails, riverfront access and other outdoor spaces.

The two local projects awarded are:

  • Aspinwall Riverfront Park - $367,000 - Payment toward the acquisition of approximately 2 acres for an addition to the Aspinwall Riverfront Park.
  • Friends of the Riverfront, Inc. - $26,000 - Prepare a Water Trail Management Plan for the Three Rivers Water Trail in Allegheny County.

“I have the pleasure of representing an area with beautiful parks and trails along the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers, with great organizations dedicated to keeping them clean and accessible,” Innamorato said. “These projects will expand Aspinwall’s Riverfront Park and allow Friends of the Riverfront to develop a new Three Rivers Water Trail Management Plan, which is sure to benefit our friends and neighbors who use these great outdoor amenities.”

Funding was awarded to more than 300 projects across the commonwealth. More information about the Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants through DCNR can be found here.
