Innamorato: State continues funding support for workforce development

Locally more than $130,000 awarded for internship program

PITTSBURGH, March 5 – Today state Rep. Sara Innamorato, D-Allegheny, announced that the Three Rivers Workforce Development Board (Partner4Work) has been selected to receive more than $137,000, part of a $4.7 million investment in workforce development boards across Pennsylvania.

“Today we are continuing to invest in Pennsylvania’s future by creating pathways for our young citizens to be prepared for the economy of tomorrow,” Innamorato said. “As we have seen, our local economy and industry is rapidly evolving, and these programs will help Allegheny County remain at the forefront of tomorrow’s economy.”

The $137,996 grant from the state Department of Labor and Industry will help to fund local internship programs, which across Pennsylvania will provide nearly 1,500 summer internships.

The 2020 program will operate for an eight-week period between May 1 and August 28. The program will offer wages at a minimum of $10.35 an hour for young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 years.
