Since I took office in 2015, my team has helped thousands of our neighborhood’s seniors, working families and community groups identify and apply for state programs and grants they are eligible for -- everything from getting a SEPTA Key Pass to home heating assistance to funds for a community organization to expand their operations.
Providing resources and assistance with state programs is one of the most important parts of my job as a state legislator. But there are a lot of people in our community who don’t know about the services my office can help them with.
How can we help you?
Have you ever had a problem renewing your vehicle’s registration? Finding the status of an unemployment compensation claim? Or finding help to pay for your prescriptions?
Our office can help with all three.
We have answers for you; and if we don’t have the answer, we know the people to connect you with who has the information you need.
Here is a sample of some of the programs we can assist with.
Help for Seniors
Last year, over 500,000 Pennsylvania seniors received a property tax or rent rebate totaling more than $315 million. Do you or a loved one qualify? Pennsylvanians who are 65 and older, or widows and widowers 50 and older, or people with disabilities who are 18 and older are eligible for a rebate if their household income is $46,520 or less ?per year.
PACE/PACENET are programs funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery to help seniors lower the cost of their prescriptions. The programs work with Medicare Part D and other drug plans, like those from retiree plans, employers, Medicare Advantage and Veterans’ Benefits to reduce the money you pay out of pocket for medicine.
Our office can help you determine your eligibility and submit your applications for each of these programs.
Help with Health Care
Health insurance is important for every family member. It can give you peace of mind and provide critical coverage in case of illness. My office can help you review your options for high-quality, low-cost health insurance for your kids under the Children's Health Insurance Program — or CHIP. We can also help you learn more about the affordable health insurance plans for adults in Pennie, our state’s health insurance marketplace.
Help with PennDOT
If you have a medically documented disability that limits your mobility or makes walking long distances hard, you may be eligible for a Disability Parking Placard. After your application is certified by your medical provider, my office can review it and even help you file your request.
Did you receive a notification in the mail about renewing your driver’s license or car registration? We can review your forms before you file to make sure they are completed correctly to prevent them from being returned for changes.
Local Events
I host events throughout the year that can connect you with these and other state services, including a senior health fair, a job fair, a family fun fair and others. I even co-host an expungement clinic that can help people clear their record to help them qualify for jobs, housing and educational opportunities.
The best way to know about my upcoming events and the assistance my office can provide is by visiting my website (repmcclinton.com) and signing up for my e-newsletter. It is delivered to your inbox every week and, in addition to news from Harrisburg, often contains information about career fairs, scholarship opportunities and health care clinics in our area.
There is no need to wait for an event or an email, my team is in the office at 149 S. 60th St., Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call or stop by and let us see how we can help you.
