Cephas announces $2.45 million in RACP grant funding for community

HARRISBURG, July 17 State Rep. Morgan Cephas, D-Phila., announced $2.45 million in funding from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program for three projects in the 192nd Legislative District. The awards are as follows:

  • $2 million for the Cobbs Creek Restoration and Community Foundation toward a multi-phase redevelopment project to restore and reimagine the historic site as a hub for community, education and recreation.

  • $250,000 for Overbrook School for the Blind to enhance dining facilities and transportation. Dining facilities will be equipped with nursing stations and bathroom facilities. Transportation upgrades will include on-campus bus loading zones, staff and visitor parking areas, and a redesigned turnaround. Emergency readiness will also be strengthened with a standalone power and environmental system. Funding will also go toward creating a Maker Space and Work Experience center.

  • $200,000 for Overbrook Farmacy to construct a new center that will include NatureWorks educational workshops, climate and environmental adaptation, a farmers market, a commercial kitchen, and training on sustainable green infrastructure management.

“I am proud to announce RACP funding for these projects in our district,” Cephas said. “The impact of these grants will be felt in the improvements to education and safety, the reestablishment of community hubs, and the investment in sustainability and fresh food. It is great to see state resources go toward projects that bring our institutions into the present, honor our history and will contribute to improving the lives of our community members.”

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is administered by the Office of the Budget for the design, acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
