Hanbidge: $1.75M in grants secured for revitalization projects

State Rep. Liz Hanbidge announced today that three projects in her legislative district have received funding through Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

The following funding was awarded:

  • $250,000 to Gwynedd Mercy University for renovations to the Julia Ball Auditorium and St. Bernard Hall academic facilities.
  • $1 million to Lower Gwynedd Township for upgrades to the township’s public works facility to support a growing population.
  • $500,000 to Whitpain Township for the construction of the Whitpain Community Center, which will include two basketball courts that can convert to six pickleball courts, meeting rooms, a fitness center, an elevated walking track, and a lobby.

“These investments are a win for our entire community,” Hanbidge said. “This funding will help Gwynedd Mercy University continue providing high-quality educational opportunities in updated facilities while ensuring that Lower Gwynedd Township has the infrastructure needed to serve our growing population. A community center is where that growing population comes together, from youth sports to fitness classes to neighbors simply meeting one another. I am thrilled to help bring this space to Whitpain and grateful for the state's investment in supporting projects that will benefit residents for years to come.”
