Pisciottano bill on motorcycle lemons signed into law

New law extends Automobile Lemon Law to cover motorcycles

HARRISBURG, Nov. 20 – State Rep. Nick Pisciottano announced today a bill he helped craft creating consumer protections for motorcycle buyers has been signed into law by Gov. Josh Shapiro.

“Consumers should never be left out to dry if they purchase a defective product – whether it’s a car, motorcycle, or any other good on the market,” said Pisciottano, D-Allegheny. “Under this new law, motorcycle manufacturers will now be required to repair any major defects that occur within the first 12,000 miles or first year of ownership.”

Pisciottano thanked now-retired state Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington, state Rep. and Majority Chairman of the House Consumer Protection, Technology, and Utilities Committee Rob Matzie, D-Beaver, Senator Michele Brooks, R-Crawford/Lawrence/Mercer, and A.B.A.T.E. of PA, who all worked on this issue for many years.

Pisciottano said S.B. 155, which mirrors his H.B. 360 to cover motorcycles under the Automobile Lemon Law, was signed into law as Act 151 of 2024 on Monday.
