Hill-Evans announces $15k in Ag and Youth grants

HARRISBURG, Jan. 6 – State Rep. Carol Hill-Evans today announced that a total of $15,000 would be awarded to Edgar Fahs Smith STEAM Academy and York County Libraries in two separate $7,500 Ag and Youth grants.

“I’m thrilled to see these grants approved and to watch the work begin,” Hill-Evans said. “As an avid gardener myself, it is pleasing to know the funding will allow students to participate in growing seeds, learning how to properly use and maintain hydroponics equipment, and be exposed to gardening and farming field trips. This exposure will give them a greater appreciation for how their food ends up on their plate.”

Edgar Fahs Smith STEAM Academy will receive $7,500 to fund the purchase of hydroponics equipment for students to grow seeds, which will then be transferred to areas where students are working to restore native habitats.

York County Libraries will receive $7,500 for SummerQuest to incorporate gardening and farm field trips to expose children to agriculture.
