Guenst secures $597,719 grant for West Monument Bridge replacement

HATBORO, Aug. 19 – State Rep. Nancy Guenst announced that Hatboro Borough has been awarded a $597,719 grant from the Multimodal Transportation Fund to replace the West Monument Bridge.

"Infrastructure is the backbone of our communities, and this funding is a testament to our commitment to keeping Pennsylvania moving forward," Guenst said. "The West Monument Bridge replacement will not only improve safety and accessibility for Hatboro residents but also support economic growth by ensuring that our transportation networks are robust and reliable."

This infrastructure project is part of a broader effort by the Shapiro administration to enhance transportation systems across Pennsylvania, highlighted by Gov. Josh Shapiro's recent unveiling of a $51 million investment from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, targeting 66 key projects in 32 counties.

Guenst said the Shapiro administration’s focus on repairing and replacing aging infrastructure is reflected in the 2024-25 bipartisan budget, which allocates $80.5 million in new funding for road and bridge repairs. This investment has already led to the repair of 74 bridges and the initiation of 161 bridge projects in the first half of 2024 alone.

Among these projects, Guenst said the replacement of the West Monument Bridge stands out as an essential improvement for Hatboro Borough due to both safety concerns and the need for modern, durable infrastructure.

"Projects like the West Monument Bridge replacement are essential to our community’s growth and prosperity,” Guenst added. “I am proud to advocate for Hatboro and will continue working to secure the resources needed to keep our infrastructure strong."
