Goughnour: $1.6 million in state grants awarded for local projects and equipment purchases

HARRISBURG, Sept. 15 – State Rep. Dan Goughnour, D-Allegheny, and state Sen. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, today announced that more than $1.6 million in state grants has been awarded for 10 worthwhile projects and equipment purchases in the 35^th Legislative District.

The grant recipients are:

• Clairton City: $126,653 for two new dump trucks.
• Homestead Borough: $350,000 for borough building HVAC replacement.
• Homestead Borough: $50,000 for Sullivan Park playground equipment.
• McKeesport: $125,000 for a Renziehausen Park tennis court and trails project.
• McKeesport: $200,000 for the Spring Street Connection Project.
• Munhall Borough: $200,000 for Phase 2 of the Main Street Business District Improvement Project.
• Port Vue Borough: $50,000 for a fire department pumper.
• Port Vue Borough: $143,546 for a public works truck and loader.
• Steel Rivers Council of Governments: $200,000 for a Clairton sewer interceptor replacement.
• White Oak Borough: $200,000 for Heritage Hill Park Pool restroom and locker room renovations.

“I’m very pleased to see the Mon Valley benefitting from this new state funding,” Goughnour said. “Our municipalities depend on this funding to make projects happen and hold down local taxes. I’m proud to be one of the advocates in Harrisburg for moving the Mon Valley forward.”

“It’s a pleasure to partner with Representative Goughnour to advocate for these projects and ensure our communities receive the resources they need,” Pisciottano said. “By working together, we’re able to bring important investments back to Allegheny County.”

The grants awarded today come from Local Share Account funds which are approved and distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
