$2 million in grants to benefit projects in 35th Legislative District

HARRISBURG, Dec. 18 — State Rep. Dan Goughnour, D-Allegheny, and state Sen. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, today announced that more than $2 million in grants has been awarded for 11 projects that will benefit the 35th Legislative District.
The grants come from Local Share Account funds and the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program, which are distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
“It takes a strong voice in Harrisburg to bring state dollars back to the Mon Valley,” Goughnour said. “Senator Pisciottano, Representative John Inglis and I are staunch advocates for our area because these are worthwhile projects that deserve our support. I’m happy to see this money coming back home.”
“These investments reflect the priorities we hear from communities, including safer infrastructure, accessible public spaces, and facilities that serve residents now and into the future,” Pisciottano said. “This funding allows us to move forward with projects that improve how people live, work, and interact in their communities.”
The local projects receiving grants are:
- Homestead Borough: $175,000 for ADA-accessible fishing pier.
- VC Waterfront Development: $100,000 for a waterfront barge.
- Clairton Municipal Authority: $250,000 for Dry Run interceptor sewer replacement.
- Homestead Borough: $76,683 for road repair equipment.
- Homestead Borough: $200,000 for bridge repairs.
- City of McKeesport: $250,000 for municipal building improvements.
- Port Vue Borough: $312,300 for facility upgrades.
- Whitaker Borough: $55,810 for police tasers and AED units.
- Tri-COG Lank Bank: $106,651 for acquisition and demolition of blighted properties.
- West Mifflin Borough: $425,000 for a recreation center project.
- West Mifflin Sanitary Sewer & Stormwater Authority: $225,000 for storm sewer installation and concrete restoration.
