My opposition to the proposed
PA American Water rate increase
I have heard from many of you who are concerned about the impact of a proposed rate increase by PA American Water, and I agree that this is not the time for it. I recognize PA American Water consistently upgrades their infrastructure and systems, but I’m not in favor of shifting that burden to the customers, especially now with family budgets stretched thin.
PA American Water has asked the state Public Utility Commission to approve a rate hike that would increase water bills by approximately $14 per month and wastewater bills about $10 per month. Customers with combined stormwater and wastewater systems could see an increase of roughly $20 per month.
I plan to contact the PUC to formally express my opposition to this increase, and I urge you to consider doing so, as well. Write to the PUC at Secretary’s Bureau, Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, 400 North St., Harrisburg, PA, 17120.

Firearms deer season kicks off Saturday:
Be safe and be seen
Pennsylvania's statewide deer firearms season begins Saturday, November 29 and runs through Saturday, December 13 — including two of the approved Sundays for the 2025-26 season.
I urge all hunters to be safe and be seen. You can review the fluorescent orange requirements here. Hunters are also reminded to tag and report their harvest by phone, by mail, or online, and you can learn more about reporting here.

Suspended License Information Session
Due to an error by the Allegheny County Department of Court Records, over 1,000 people here in the county are receiving notices that their license will be suspended because of a driving-related court case that concluded years ago – in some cases, as long as 12 years. If you are impacted, you will receive notice of that suspension in a letter from PennDOT.
There will be a meeting to help appeal these suspensions held by the Allegheny Lawyers Initiative for Justice and Frank Walker Law on Tuesday, November 25 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Community Forge (1256 Franklin Ave., Wilkinsburg). You can also join the meeting virtually here. You will need to bring the PennDOT letter notifying you of your suspension.
