Giral announces $100K grant for Philadelphia Children’s Alliance

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 16 – Grant funding of $100,000 from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency will go to support endeavors of the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance, state Rep. Jose Giral, D-Phila., announced today.

The Philadelphia Children’s Alliance provides resources and advocacy for children and families impacted by child sexual abuse, exploitation and violence. They offer medical services, trauma therapy, child-conscious forensic interviews, caregiver support, and court accompaniment, all at no cost to families.

“The Philadelphia Children’s Alliance is an invaluable resource to families seeking help in a time of extreme crisis,” Giral said. “Our children are some of our most vulnerable residents, and this is an organization that meets their needs – and more – when their safety and well-being have been threatened or taken from them. I applaud the commission for investing these valuable dollars so that they can continue to serve our community.”

The total funds were distributed as two grants with separate purposes:

  • $50,000 to continue to rent the space used for forensic interviews, meeting the standards of being child-focused and neutral.
  • $50,000 to train 100 clinicians in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and to send one therapist for training and certification in problematic sexual behavior-cognitive behavioral therapy.
