HARRISBURG, Feb. 24 – State Rep. Robert Freeman announced that more than $463,000 in state grants were awarded today for roadway upgrades in Hellertown Borough and Wilson Borough.

“There are numerous competitive state grant programs that I advocate for on behalf of the local communities that I represent. Today’s announcement by the Commonwealth Financing Authority is the latest state investment that I am glad to see returned to our area,” said Freeman, D-Northampton.

PD Hellertown LLC was awarded $300,000 for an interchange improvement project at the Main Street and I-78 interchange located in Hellertown Borough.

The Skyline Investment Group Easton LLC will use its $163,257 grant for a sidewalk improvement project that is part of a proposed pedestrian and bicycle trail connector at the Dixie Cup site located in Wilson Borough.

The investments were provided through the Multimodal Transportation Fund and may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
