Easton added to state’s Creative Communities Initiative
Will receive multi-year grant to support art creation

HARRISBURG, Aug. 16 – State Rep. Bob Freeman, D-Northampton, today announced that the Greater Easton Development Partnership will lead a public arts and activities project in Easton.
The project will receive $100,000 over four years from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
“This project will help advance downtown revitalization and community development,” Freeman said. “Artist-led community engagement will help the organization plan and implement public art projects and activities.”
The PCA added this project to its Creative Communities Initiative. As a place-based community and economic development project, PCA said it was selected for its innovative and comprehensive approach to addressing a variety of local challenges and opportunities.
Arts and culture account for more than $30 billion of the state’s economy, supporting more than 175,000 jobs.
The Creative Communities Initiative strengthens Pennsylvania communities through support for arts-based community and economic development work. Each CCI project is rooted in deep community engagement and capitalizes on the community’s ’s unique creative assets to cultivate community connectedness, livability, and economic development.
The Easton project was one of six announced by the PCA.
