HARRISBURG, April 22 – The Nature Nurture Center today was awarded a $3,000 state grant to expand its programs, announced Rep. Robert Freeman.
The Easton organization plans to use the funds to engage high school youth in an education and leadership program, including a youth Climate Summit, a youth art exhibition and a 10-part Climate Leadership series.
“The Nature Nurture Center is a wonderful museum and environmental center and offers some exciting programs. I have been a longtime advocate for protecting our environment, so it’s especially gratifying to see the group benefit from a state grant on Earth Day,” said Freeman, D-Northampton.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection today awarded $459,823 in grants to 51 projects across the state.
The Environmental Education Grants Program was established in 1993 and is funded through 5% of the pollution fines and penalties collected by DEP.
