HARRISBURG, March 4 – Three Scranton historical organizations will receive state funding in the amount of $20,350 through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission’s Cultural and Historical Support Program, state Reps. Kyle Mullins and Marty Flynn, both D-Lackawanna, announced today.
“Our area is truly rich in cultural and historical significance, which our residents and visitors can readily experience at our local museums,” Mullins said. “I am pleased to see these funds coming back to our district so that these assets can be preserved for future generations to enjoy.”
“The work these organizations do for our community is invaluable and they deserve our support,” Flynn said. “Grants like this allow them to keep their doors open so our current and future generations can learn about our past.”
The organizations receiving the grant funding are as follows:
Cultural and Historical Support grants are to provide general operating support to Pennsylvania museums and official county historical societies that are not directly supported by other state agency operating support programs. An eligible museum must have an annual operating budget exceeding $100,000 and at least one full-time professional staff person.
