Pre-register for your REAL ID on Feb. 6
Did you know that after Aug. 1, 2019, to board a domestic flight or enter a federal facility you will need a Real ID-compliant license or ID card (or a U.S. Passport or Military ID)? The driver’s licenses we now have will not be sufficient to board a plane or visit a military base or federal building. A Real ID-compliant driver’s license has enhanced security features required by federal law. We want to make the process of getting a new Real ID-compliant license as easy as possible, so we are bringing PennDOT to South Philadelphia.
I am hosting a Real ID pre-verification event on Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Columbus Square Recreation Center, 1200 Wharton St. PennDOT will be on hand to help process forms for pre-verification. My staff will also be there to provide you with information on Real ID. Together with PennDOT, we can help you file the documentation now, so you are ready to receive your Real ID when they become available in March.
Here’s what you will need to bring with you to the event on Feb. 6:
- One official proof of identity
- Your original Social Security card
- Proof of all legal name changes (marriage certificates, court orders, etc.)
- Two proofs of current, physical address in PA
If you have any questions about what documents qualify for each category, or for more information for applying as a non-citizen, please call our district office at 215-271-9190.
If you can’t make it to the event, my office still can help you in many ways! We can assist you in obtaining a certified copy of a Pennsylvania birth certificate. My staff can also assist with any questions or issues that you may have.
