Grant program will position PA as national climate leader
Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler February 27, 2025 | 12:32 PM
HARRISBURG, Feb. 27 – State Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler, D-Phila., chair of the House Energy Committee, issued the following statement on Gov. Josh Shapiro’s RISE PA initiative:
“On Wednesday, the Shapiro administration launched RISE PA — a new $396 million grant program that will fund projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions at Pennsylvania’s industrial facilities. RISE PA is an example of a smart investment that will create family-sustaining jobs, lower costs for businesses, and improve the health of Pennsylvanians at once.
“Pennsylvania is already a leader in energy and industry. Now, RISE PA will help us seize the opportunity to become a leader in decarbonization, too.
“Acting DEP Secretary Jessica Shirley and her team deserve credit for pursuing these funds and creating a program that has the power to boost our industrial sector while protecting communities affected by emissions. I also commend Gov. Shapiro for his leadership, especially his recent engagement with the Trump administration, to ensure that federal funding awarded to and under contract with the commonwealth is not unlawfully withheld.”
