Fiedler responds to release of frozen federal funding

State Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler, D-Phila., who also serves as Chair of the House Energy Committee, issued the following statement on the release of federal funding:

“It’s a relief to hear that frozen federal funds are finally being released. I’m grateful for Governor Shapiro’s leadership to protect Pennsylvania and pursue funding that is owed to the commonwealth. The Trump administration’s attempts to govern through Executive Orders is both unconstitutional and a sign of weakness, and holding crucial funding hostage hurts working people most.

“Among the programs targeted are funds to repair neglected mine lands, plug abandoned oil and gas wells, and help low-income Pennsylvanians make crucial home repairs that will lower utility bills. The Inflation Reduction Act includes bold, smart investments that are already spurring economic and job growth in manufacturing and renewable energy generation, especially in rural areas represented by conservative lawmakers. The return of this funding to Pennsylvania agencies is not only lawful, but most importantly, it will benefit all of us—across any geographic or ideological divide.”
