Donahue secures over $835,000 in funding for roadway improvements

HARRISBURG, March 26 – State Rep. Kyle Donahue announced today that three projects in the 113th Legislative District have been awarded a total of $836,999 in state funding to create safer roadways.
The grants, awarded by the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, include:
- $333,955 to the city of Scranton – for Phase IV of the Street Sign Initiative.
- $292,516 to Covington Township – for the milling and paving of Havenstrite Lane and Richland Road in Lackawanna County.
- $210,528 to Roaring Brook Township – to repave Spencer Road located in both Roaring Brook Township and Moscow Borough.
“Residents of our community rely on our roadways to help them get where they need to go in their daily lives,” said Donahue. “Whether it be to get to work, school or the grocery store, our roads are what connects our community together, and I am proud to fight to secure this funding for communities in the 113th District as we continue to make critical investments into our roadway infrastructure.”
The Multimodal Transportation Fund is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation, and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.
