Delloso applauds over $524K investment for traffic signal upgrades

HARRISBURG, Aug. 4 – State Rep. David Delloso today announced that more than $524,000 in state funding has been awarded for safety and modernization upgrades of traffic signals in the 162nd Legislative District.

“These upgrades might seem like small changes, but they make a big difference in the day-to-day lives of our residents,” said Delloso. “Modern, reliable traffic signals help keep people safe, reduce delays and ensure our roads can better serve our community that rely on them every day. I’m glad we were able to secure this funding and bring these improvements to the district.”

The funding includes:

  • $399,918.50 for Ridley Township for traffic signal modernization of the intersection at Fairview Road and Jefferson Avenue.
  • $124,480 for Prospect Park Borough for safety and modernization upgrades of traffic signals along Chester Pike. The intersections include Stewart Avenue/McCormic Avenue, Sellers Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, West Amosland Road, Winona Avenue, Glenolden Avenue, Gardner Avenue, Ashland Avenue, Lamont Avenue, Oak Lane, Clifton Avenue, Sharon Avenue, and Ridley Avenue.

The Greenlight-Go Program is a competitive state grant program designed to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals in Pennsylvania and is administered by the state Transportation Department. Applicants are required to provide a 20% match. Funding may be used for traffic signal retiming; study and removal of unwarranted traffic-control signals; monitoring of traffic signal corridors; innovative technologies; installation, upgrade or maintenance of traffic signal communication systems; upgrade or installation of detection systems and controllers; modernization upgrades; implementation of intelligent transportation system applications; or to replace traditional or LED bulbs with new LED bulbs.
