Delloso: Grants awarded to support veterans, community safety

HARRISBURG, Jan. 28 – State Rep. Dave Delloso, D-Delaware, has announced the awarding of more than $114,000 in grant funding to local community projects. The grants, funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, will be awarded to the following:

  • Veterans of Foreign Wars 7213: $5,000
    • Community hall renovations project.

  • Collingdale Police Department: $42,190
    • Update and install a new camera system for the community center.

  • Murray-Stuart American Legion Post 566: $67,000
    • Repair and replacement of the building’s roof.

“These projects address serious issues within vital establishments in our community,” Delloso said. “I’m proud to see facilities for our local veterans receive much-needed repairs and updates, as well as efforts to increase safety and security for citizens at the Collingdale Community Center.”

Delloso said the current video security system at the Collingdale Community Center is 15 years old and well overdue for an upgrade. The new system, paid for by the awarded grant, will improve video quality and storage capacity for improved security in and around the complex.

The roof of the Murray-Stuart American Legion is rotting away and has tarps on it in some places to prevent leaks, Delloso added. The awarded grant from DCED will go toward a full repair and replacement, ensuring the preservation of the building from weather-related decay.
