Rep. David M. Delloso February 13, 2020 | 4:25 PM
RIDLEY PARK, Feb. 13 – State Rep. David Delloso, D-Delaware, and a distinguished panel of guests will lead an Opioids and Addiction Awareness Program from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Harcum College-Prospect Park.
The program will be held at 800 Lincoln Ave., Prospect Park.
“Our nation and state are in the midst of a crisis,” Delloso said. “Our community in Delaware County has been hit particularly hard by the opioid epidemic. I’ve organized this program to help our community. Please join me as I host a community conversation on how to treat loved ones suffering from addiction and learn what we can do to treat and prevent addiction.”
The Pennsylvania Department of Health estimates that Delaware County has 13,570 individuals with a drug use disorder. Drug use disorder is defined as any substance use disorder not including alcohol use disorder. In the state of Pennsylvania, only Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Montgomery counties have a higher estimate of individuals with drug use disorder.
Experts will join Delloso, and health care professionals will teach residents how to administer naloxone, also known as Narcan, which has the potential to reverse opioid overdose.
Delloso and his staff will attend the event and be available to help any resident with state-related questions or concerns. For more information, those interested can contact Delloso’s office at 610-534-1002.
