Boil water alert issued for our area!

I want to alert you about a boil water advisory issued for the following communities in our area:

  • Crafton
  • Green Tree
  • Ingram
  • Pittsburgh
  • Thornburg

Pennsylvania American Water issued the advisory after a water main break in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood earlier today.

Customers should not drink water without boiling it first. Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and cool before using. You may also use bottled water.

Until further notice from Pennsylvania American Water, residents should use cooled boiled water or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation. Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms, which could cause nausea, cramps, diarrhea and other problems.

Tankers with drinking water will be available at 3 p.m. today at the following locations:

  • Green Tree Fire Department: 825 Poplar St, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
  • Ingram Municipal Building: 40 W Prospect Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

Customers should bring their own containers when visiting the tanker for drinking water.

Pennsylvania American Water is repairing the water main break that caused the loss of water pressure. While there is not a current timeline for when those repairs will be completed, the company will be providing updates when available.
