DeLissio to host free shred event July 25 in Manayunk

PHILADELPHIA, July 10 – State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio will host a free shred event for residents of the 194th Legislative District from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25.

The event will be held in the parking lot of the Main Street Theatre, 3720-40 Main St., Manayunk, 19127, a new location from previous shred events.

“It is with great anticipation that I look forward to hosting this event, at a time when many of us have been home and cleaning out our closets. Safe disposal of confidential, unwanted documents with personal information is one of the best defenses against scams and identity theft,” said DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila. "Shredding also is a great way to dispose of these documents in an environmentally friendly way, and I am happy to be able to continue to offer this service to my constituents."

DeLissio said common types of unwanted items that should be shredded include credit card statements, credit card applications, bank and investment statements, canceled checks, income tax information, insurance and health records, and retirement or pension fund information. Magazines, journals and newspapers will not be accepted.

There is a limit of four bags per household (standard storage/banker boxes or grocery bags). Shredding will be done on-site, with COVID-19 protocols in place, and all shredded paper will be recycled.

All constituents and staff must be wearing masks. Participants will be asked to park their vehicles and carry their bags or boxes to the shredding bins. If there is a line, attendees will be asked to wait 6 feet apart.

“Staff will provide assistance when necessary and we appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as we are all in this together,” commented DeLissio.

Shredding ends at 11 a.m. or when the truck is full, whichever comes first. This is a rain-or-shine event.

For more information, constituents should call DeLissio’s office at 215-482-8726.
