DeLissio announces small business grant for West Laurel Hill
BALA CYNWYD, Dec. 13 – State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila., announced today a Small Business Advantage Grant awarded to West Laurel Hill Cemetery and Funeral Home in Bala Cynwyd, Lower Merion Township.
Provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the $3,163 grant was used to replace florescent light bulbs in the basement of the funeral home with more energy efficient LED lights.
“Anytime I have a chance to support local business with green initiatives like this, I am happy to do so,” said DeLissio, who advised West Laurel Hill Cemetery and Funeral Home President and CEO Nancy Goldenberg that this category of grant was available for West Laurel Hill. “This organization has been a national leader in sustainability and is dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint, and I am pleased that they applied for and were awarded this grant.”
“We have an uncompromising commitment to sustainability throughout our entire business,” Goldberg said. “We were thrilled to have learned about this opportunity from Representative DeLissio and honored to receive the grant to complete our conversion to LED lighting.”
The funding enabled the funeral home to replace 58 florescent light fixtures with 58 LED fixtures, substantially reducing the energy used. West Laurel Hill said the 67.8% energy reduction will equate to $3,904.89 in annual savings.
Small Business Advantage Grants provide 50% matching grants, up to a maximum of $7,000, to enable Pennsylvania small businesses to purchase energy-efficient or pollution-prevention equipment, or adopt waste-reduction processes, according to the DEP website.
