Cruz sworn in to eighth term in state House

HARRISBURG, Jan. 6 – State Rep. Angel Cruz, D-Phila., was sworn into his eighth term as state representative for the 180th Legislative District during a swearing-in ceremony at the state Capitol today.

The ceremony marked the beginning of the 199th legislative session for Cruz and the rest of the state House.

Cruz was also appointed to serve as the Democratic chairman of the House Human Services Committee for the 2015-16 legislative session. The House Human Services Committee has oversight of issues within the Department of Human Services and the new state Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs.

“I’m looking forward to proudly serving the residents of the 180th Legislative District and all Pennsylvanians as we begin this new legislative session,” Cruz said. “I’m especially looking forward to advancing more legislation through the Health and Human Services Committee which will benefit all Pennsylvanians.”

Cruz also marked the celebration of the Three Kings Day with a ceremony at the Capitol. Three Kings Day celebrates the revelation of Jesus Christ as the Son of God through a Christian feast day.
