HARRISBURG, Nov. 16 – State Rep. Angel Cruz announced today that a $25,000 Safe Schools grant has been awarded to Deep Roots Charter School in Philadelphia.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education awards the competitive grants to prevent and reduce violent incidents, to purchase safety and security-related equipment, and to provide training and compensation for school resource and police officers.
"Keeping students safe, even during this period of remote learning, should always be a top priority," said Cruz, D-Phila. "This funding is critical in helping Deep Roots Charter School strengthen its overall safety while still offering its pupils a quality education."
