Comitta announces $183K in DCNR grant for Everhart Park

HARRISBURG, Sept. 24 – State Rep. Carolyn Comitta, D-Chester, announced today that $183,000 has been approved in the form of a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources 2020 Community Conservation Partnerships Program grant.

“Our parks are a vital part of the community,” Comitta said. “These funds will serve to enhance and update the playground equipment at Everhart Park. It’s important that our parks be accessible and made as safe as possible for all. I look forward to seeing our children and neighbors enjoy these improvements.”

Comitta said the grant money will be used to rehabilitate Everhart Park in West Chester Borough, Chester County. Work will include the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

The DCNR Recreation and Conservation grant program is funded with a variety of state and federal funding sources, including the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, which includes Key-Community and Key-Land Trust; the Environmental Stewardship Fund; the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund; Pennsylvania Trails fund; Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program; and the ATV Restricted Management Account Fund.
