Comitta announces more than $383K in funding for Chester County charter schools
HARRISBURG, August 26 – State Rep. Carolyn Comitta, D-Chester, announced today that Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School and Collegium Charter School will be receiving a total of $383,559 in Governor’s Emergency Education Relief funds.
The funding is aimed at improving educational services for approximately 180,000 students at schools designated for Additional Targeted Support and Improvement under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act authorizes governors to determine the educational use of Governor's GEER Funds.
Local grants will be awarded as follows:
- Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School- $200,629.
- Collegium Charter School- $182,930.
“These are crucial investments in our most overwhelmed school districts,” Comitta said. “This funding is targeted to schools that are typically underserved or struggle with additional needs. I fully support evening the playing field and making sure that our students get the same opportunities, school supplies, and resources. Our children all deserve the same chance to succeed.”
Grants were calculated based on elements of the federal Title I, Part A formula, including the number of economically disadvantaged students and other school enrollment data.
