Ciresi announces $250K for Trappe sidewalk improvements

TRAPPE, April 21 – Safer sidewalks, curb ramps and crosswalks are coming to downtown Trappe after state Rep. Joe Ciresi announced $250,000 in funding for the borough via the Commonwealth Finance Authority today.

Ciresi, D-Montgomery, who penned a letter of support for the project to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development in September, noted that the funding will improve pedestrian infrastructure along Main Street in Trappe to improve walkability for residents and visitors.

“Problems such as deteriorating sidewalks and a lack of pedestrian street crossings will be addressed through this funding,” Ciresi said. “A safe and modern sidewalk system would improve walkability through the historic district’s downtown; enhance connectivity to local businesses, recreational attractions and historic landmarks; and build a stronger image of an already outstanding community.”

The proposed project consists of constructing 1,500 linear feet of sidewalk and the installation of curb ramps and crosswalks from East Linfield Trappe Road to Cherry Avenue, repairing sidewalks from Cherry Avenue to Center Avenue, and creating two pedestrian crossings at First Avenue and across from Rambo Park along the Main Street corridor.

“On behalf of the borough council and myself, we are appreciative of Representative Ciresi’s efforts to aid our community and the projects within the Borough of Trappe,” said Borough Manager Marcus Dolny. “These funds will go a long way to helping make the borough more accessible and safer for all.”
