Ciresi grateful for announcement of Pottstown vaccination clinic
Rep. Joseph Ciresi April 7, 2021 | 2:22 PM
POTTSTOWN, April 7 – Applauding the announcement that a COVID-19 vaccine clinic is opening this Friday in Pottstown, state Rep. Joe Ciresi, D-Montgomery, said he wanted to thank all involved in increasing vaccination opportunities for those in the western portion of the county.
“Since January, I’ve been advocating for more vaccination access for those of us who reside in the western half of Montgomery County,” Ciresi said. “While getting shots into the arms of as many Pennsylvanians as possible is our clearest path out of this ongoing pandemic, there were moments of frustration that other areas of the county and state were seemingly being prioritized.
“However, the opening of the new clinic in Pottstown this Friday eases those concerns, and I’m grateful to the county commissioners for hearing us and to all who helped make this happen. I also must express a heartfelt thank you to all who’ve worked tirelessly to increase local access at smaller venues over the last several months. With this news, I am hopeful we see light at the end of the tunnel.”
The new clinic in Pottstown opens at 9 a.m. Friday at Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 N. Keim St., and will be open six days a week. It will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Saturdays; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays; and 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
All registration for vaccinations in the county can be done online at montcopa.org/COVID-19vaccine, or by calling 833-875-3967. Appointments are required; walk-ups are not accepted for vaccinations.
All residents in Phase 1A and 1B are eligible to pre-register for vaccination, and those in Phase 1C will be eligible to begin scheduling appointments Monday, April 12.
In Montgomery County, there have been vaccination sites in the eastern half of the county (Norristown, Blue Bell, Willow Grove) that were often inaccessible to many from the western half of the county, which prompted Ciresi to advocate on behalf of his community.
“My staff and I hear daily from frustrated constituents who have been unable to coordinate the travel necessary to take advantage of the current vaccination sites,” Ciresi said. “Hopefully, that frustration eases starting this week.”
