Burgos announces state funding for Hunting Park

HARRISBURG, Feb. 24 – State Rep. Danilo Burgos, D-Phila., today announced that $700,000 in state grant funding has been awarded for pedestrian safety lighting improvements at Hunting Park.

Burgos was instrumental in securing the funding approved today by the Commonwealth Financing Authority under the Multimodal Transportation Fund.

“This funding will enhance the lighting in the park to improve the safety of the park for pedestrians and add to the useability and appeal of the park,” Burgos said.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the grants this morning. The authority was established in 2004 as an independent agency of DCED to administer Pennsylvania’s economic development programs.

The grants, which come from the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
