Briggs secures over $1.3 million in grants for Montco community projects

HARRISBURG, Oct. 22 – State Rep. Tim Briggs, D-Montgomery, today announced the allocation of more than $1.3 million in Local Share Account funding for a series of community-enhancing projects across Montgomery County.
“These LSA funds will improve public spaces, revitalize landmarks, and modernize local infrastructure,” said Briggs. “The projects being funded are essential to improving the quality of life for our residents, whether it’s through the creation of public parks, the restoration of historic landmarks, or ensuring the safety of our fire stations. I’m thrilled to see these projects move forward.”
The following projects have been awarded funding:
Ardmore Business District Authority – The Ardmore Initiative Benches
The Ardmore Business District Authority has been awarded $27,241 to purchase and install 10 new benches in the Ardmore Business District. The current benches have reached the end of their useful lives, and the new installations will enhance inclusion and community engagement in the downtown area.
Upper Merion Township – Moore Road Multimodal Trail and Linear Park Design and Engineering
Upper Merion Township has been awarded $600,000 for the design and engineering of the Moore Road Multimodal Trail and Linear Park. This project will include comprehensive efforts, such as topographic surveying, stormwater management design, and lighting, as well as archaeological studies and wetlands delineation.
Upper Merion Township – Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company Improvements
Upper Merion Township will receive $173,856 for improvements to the Swedesburg Fire Hall complex. The project will address stormwater issues, repave the parking lot, and improve ADA accessibility with new curb ramps. Security enhancements include installing cameras to monitor the parking lot and fitness room. Additionally, the fire station’s generator and HVAC system will be replaced. As the fire hall also serves as the township’s emergency shelter, these upgrades are essential for ensuring the facility is equipped to serve the community in emergencies.
West Conshohocken Borough – Mackenzie Park Improvements Phase II
West Conshohocken Borough has been awarded $500,000 for Phase II of the Mackenzie Park Improvements. This phase will include stormwater management upgrades, ADA-compliant drinking fountains, site lighting, and a new 6-foot-wide asphalt trail connecting the park entrance to its multi-purpose trail. Additional enhancements include a new pavilion, attached storage building, and basketball courts with fencing.
