Rep. Bizzarro said he was humbled yet excited to receive the Humane Legislator of the Year award because lawmakers are voices for the animals and so much remains to be done to improve their welfare.
Animal advocates stressed that 2017 is critical as a number of key anti-cruelty and animal protection bills, including an overhaul of the Animal Abuse Statute,, are expected to be voted upon during the session.
