Bizzarro optimistic about Wolf's property tax, education proposals (with video)
HARRISBURG, March 3 – State Rep. Ryan A. Bizzarro, D-Erie, issued the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s 2015-16 proposed budget:
“Governor Wolf’s bold and creative plan is a step in the right direction for Pennsylvania. After four years of abysmal job numbers, harmful education cuts and disregard for the middle class, this proposal is a welcome change that reinvests in our students, seniors and hardworking citizens.
“The governor’s priorities of creating ‘jobs that pay, schools that teach, and government that works’ truly guide this plan. Governor Wolf’s firm commitment to growing the state’s economy will help create jobs in various industries and attract businesses of all sizes to set up shop in Pennsylvania. The budget proposal’s sizable investment in education will ensure our students have the resources they need to learn, no matter where they live. In addition, the governor’s belief in increasing government efficiency will help save money at a time when the state faces a massive budget deficit of over $2 billion.
“I also applaud Governor Wolf on his historic plan to deliver property tax relief across the state. Under the governor’s proposal, homeowners may see an average of more than $1,000 in relief. As every little bit counts these days, this extra assistance would go a long way. I am hopeful that the plan will help more Pennsylvanians save their hard-earned money and allow more of our seniors to stay in their homes.
“We have to find ways to work towards solving the issues that face our state. It's time we work together to deliver for all Pennsylvanians. Although the 2015-16 budget is a work in progress, it has elements both Republicans and Democrats can embrace. Let's be bold. Let's do the unimaginable. Let's work together and prove that we, as legislators, are willing be part of the solution, not the problem. Let's put this great commonwealth back on the path to prosperity. Let's get the job done.”
