Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program applications available at Bizzarro's offices
ERIE, Feb. 25 – State Rep. Ryan A. Bizzarro, D-Erie, has announced constituents can obtain applications for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program at his various Erie County offices.
“This important program provides Pennsylvanians rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2014,” Bizzarro said. “My office staff not only helps residents fill out the applications for free, but they can also submit them to the state Revenue Department as long as constituents provide the necessary documentation.”
The initiative aids eligible Pennsylvanians 65 or older; widows and widowers 50 or older; and people with disabilities 18 or older. The income limit is $35,000 annually for homeowners and $15,000 per year for renters. Half of Social Security income is excluded, and Social Security cost-of-living adjustments cannot solely disqualify applicants.
Bizzarro said in addition, claims many now be filed on behalf of deceased claimants who met eligibility requirements and lived at least one day last year.
The maximum standard rebate is $650, and applications are due June 30.
